Joanna and the Technicolor Spring.

I remember it like it was yesterday. About a year ago, I updated my Facebook status to report about a gaggle of high school girls hanging outside of my New York City apartment building sharing a cigarette and dressed head to toe in true Gossip Girl inspired fabulousness. Even though I went a bit “Blair” on them, shooing them away from the stoop, I desperately desired to be part of their very chic crew. This post caught Jo’s eye and that the was the start of our weekly chat surrounding all things TV, from Gossip Girl to Real Housewives and anything in between.

Since college, where Jo and I met, I have found my way to New York City to continue to build a thriving career in fashion. And now, I have landed here on Design in Bloom to share with you what I have learned and what I love about fashion.

So as it turns out, I have the fever, the shopping fever that is, for everything BRIGHT this Spring. I mean, am I alone when I say I DIED over Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2011?

You may think, duh Tyler, bright colors are always on trend for spring; and you are right, normally for Spring we bring bright colors back to life after a dark and dreary winter. But, this spring stands out to me because we are combining colors in a way that is so fresh and innovative. Bright pop colors are being combined with soft neutrals AND with each other. Personally, I love a bold and daring look that makes you stand out in a crowd. But, if your idea of a good time doesn’t mean pairing bright blue silk pants and a red blouse – HAVE NO FEAR – you can still rock this trend in a way that fits into your lifestyle.  Keep in mind all facets of the industry (accessories, handbags, jewelry, shoes) not just clothing when introducing a bright pop color into your wardrobe. Whether you speak Lady Gaga or Barbara Walters, the trends from the runway, especially this one, can be translated in every possible language.

Do not be afraid to push the envelope in combining color this season. Trust me, this is a good fever to have.

Happy Shopping! xx, Tyler
