During another wild pinning excursion last night, I came across this drop dead gorgeous dining room created by Grant K. Gibson. The deep green upholstery, the Asian ceramics filled with sweet peonies, the large-scale painted black and white floor and the  mobile-like modern chandelier are all executed flawlessly and with major style.

I really loved this room (I saw the making of it on TV at some point) but I was a bit disappointed when I saw what was there originally! The room was part of a very old house (100..200 years?) and it had very old hand-painted Chinoiserie wallpaper, which they ripped off. It also had the original timber floors, which they covered wiith coat after coat of paint. So as much as I like the finished room…I do wish they had kept some of those beautiful original features!

Oh man! I wish I didn’t know that. You’re absolutely right, Anna. I have a soft spot for original details too. At least the finished room is pretty 🙂

I love the asian ceramics grouped on the table! That would look great in my dining room, don’t you think?

I do! Your foyer table would work too. We already have a head start there!!
