What I’m Working On: Nate Berkus + Woody Allen.

I am working with a new client, a bachelor, from Chicago who just purchased a town home in Old Town, Alexandria. We met last week to discuss preliminary design ideas for his new pad. Based on the photos of his current home in Chicago, I pulled a wide range of images designed by the amazingly talented firm of Nate Berkus (also from Chicago) along with the NY home of off-beat Woody Allen to showcase my ideas.

We’ll start with Nate Berkus:

Nate Berkus zebra rug and sable chair

Nate Berkus dining room with limed oak furniture and denim blue

Nate Berkus blue and sable combo with wood beamed ceiling

And then Woody Allen’s home (designed by Stephen Shadley):

The idea is to mix the color scheme (predominately sable and dusty blue), the funky, eclectic accents (metal tables and lighting), the masculine details (leather, nail heads and tufting) and the overall clean lines of Nate Berkus’ designs with the whimsical artwork and heavy, old world architectural details of Woody Allen’s tastefully cluttered home.

I only have the rest of the month of August to organize my painters and to put the finishing touches on the design plan before my client’s furniture arrives from Chicago on the 30th, so I better get moving!
